Over the past few weeks I have been trying out some of the most popular social media apps to see which one works for me and for what I want to do. All of them have their own designs, functionality and even their own audiences. The one that puzzled me was Blogger (Blogger.com).   Blogger has been around for a while and it isn’t the first time I’ve had a look at it, but nothing too in-depth. The thing that puzzles me is why it isn’t more popular. It has a nice mixture of options to edit text and layout, more then you would with normal social media. It has options to insert other media. It has no limits on letter count. Its options to customise are enough without leaving you feeling like you need a degree in software design which some longer form social media sites want. Some seem to want you to build a fully functioning website, and although they claim its as easy as 123 the part-time blogger or influencer just doesn’t want that hassle. If you live in the UK, you can’t avoid knowing about its morning magazine shows. Like most countries they are filled with nonsense and are designed to be light-hearted entertainment. They provide the usual including brief run downs of the day’s news, phone ins and guests and different segments usually on a yearly rotation. So, you get the gist, it’s mainly background noise, and these types of programs are inoffensive which is fine, they have to put something on in the mornings, but why the hell can’t they work a full week. Every Friday they have to get guest presenters. For absolutely no reason other then they can. One program (called Lorraine) is on for one hour the other program (This Morning) is on for two and a half hours. So why can’t they cope doing a full week. Yes, I know they have production meetings etc. to go to and work outside of the broadcast, but I can’t see it being the same as putting in eight days on an oil rig.   Of course, I am referring to Beyonce’s latest album “Cowboy Carter”. It is hard to view this album as nothing more then a cash in on country music from Beyonce as Taylor Swift is dominating to pop charts. Is it just a way for Beyonce to try to remain relevant in the music industry?     Although it has topped the country charts for several weeks both album and singles can you call it a country album? Just sticking the word Texas into the song and have a picture on the album cover riding a horse whilst carrying the American flag does not make you country. What makes it worse is Beyonce herself is not calling it a country album and is calling it a “Beyonce Album” which is just a tad pretentious, due to something about genres being too limiting. The thing is if you aren’t trying to be a country album then why have you called it Cowboy Carter and cover a Dolly Parton song, whilst doing a duet with Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, covering a Beatles song about the civil ...

  It has to be a huge congratulations to UK music artist Rory (also known as Roxanne Emery) for reaching number ten in the Official UK Charts yesterday with her debut album Restoration. I know what you are saying “so what people hold the ten spot every week”. That’s not the point, the point is that it’s been achieved with no major music label behind her and the marketing that comes with that backing. It has been achieved by building a following via social media including YouTube, live performances, hard work and her fans turning up to support the music they love. Restoration is the debut album under the Rory banner although there has been other music that Roxanne Emery has been involved in this is the first under Rory and is unapologetically personal. Proving age is just a number it comes with all the energy and passion anyone would be proud of but with the added benefit of life experience in all its glory and pain.
